Green economy - multiple use of forest (Green economy - multiple use of forest) - BEST PRACTICES (ENG)

The transnational cooperation project, between different national and European LAGs, on the theme “Green economy - multiple use of the forest”, implies a holistic approach to the “forest” in its various dynamics.

It is a LEADER transnational cooperation project financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. Project partners represent LEADER groups in Finland, Sweden, Luxembourg and Portugal. AD ELO – Bairrada and Mondego Local Development Association is the entity responsible for this project in Portugal, which also has the Portuguese GALs as partners: Dueceira – Ceira and Dueça Development Association and ADICES – Local Development Association.

The project is part of a theme that is of great importance for the territory, given the large size of the forest area in the intervention territory, the economic and environmental concerns of the theme and the relevance of new approaches to forest management in a context of large catastrophes that have occurred in recent times.

During the project, each partner was responsible for organizing a workshop in their region. Several representatives from each partner area participated in the study tours, and at each of these events, organizers showcased local ways of addressing circular economy issues in rural areas. In addition, each partner has organized individual actions in their own regions, such as workshops and training for entrepreneurs.

To disseminate the information collected during the project, the partners produced this e-book, which compiles the best cases of “Green Economy - multiple use of the forest” presented during the project.
